Dear Hotbit users:

STO is also called Security Token.
Security token is a digital asset that complies with federal securities laws. In general, security tokens must be linked to assets, such as cash, shares, fixed-income assets, real estate, commodities, and etc. They are the intersection of digital assets (tokens) and traditional financial products – a new technology to improve old things. If we regards cryptocurrency such as bitcoin as “programmable token”, the security token can be called a token with "programmable ownership" version, that is, any asset under its ownership can be tokenized (including public offerings and private equity, stocks, debt, real estate, commodities, etc.). STO cannot be proceed without firstly getting permission from the regulatory institution. Therefore, we can regard STO as a more legally ICO. A security-token holder can be granted ownership or shares in the company. Security-based tokens are also used to support traditional IPOs. In terms of regulation, security tokens are subject to regulations. Security tokens can be used to pay dividends, share profits, pay interest, or invest in other tokens or assets to create profits for token holders. Public equity, private equity, real estate, managed funds, exchange-traded funds, and bonds are common examples of security tokens.
